Bad ratings for upcoming Hollywood film "Stop-Loss". It smears the troops and promotes desertion.
Starring Ryan Phillipe, Stop-Loss tells the story of a soldier who is retained in the military on his last day of service and told he’s being shipped back to Iraq. But watch the trailer. Not content just to preach against one clause that’s in every single military volunteer’s contract, the film suggests that the soldier and his unit committed war crimes in Iraq. It promotes re-instating the draft. It states flatly that desertion is more honorable than service. In taking these lines, Stop-Loss is promoting the extreme left, Cindy Sheehan World Can’t Wait point of view.
"Read your contract in the first place. This would probably lead to less surprise when you are retained. If you are against the war, fine. If you don't agree with current policy, fine. If you don't take the time to understand what you are committing to, before you commit to it, who's fault is that? To make a movie that suggests that being retained under the contract you agreed to is a back door draft and not a result of your own inability to read is ridiculous."

The only soldiers the director interviewed to get a "clearer" point of view, were kids like this one:
PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK!! If we relied on a p...sy like this one ...

So have you actually seen the movie or are you another one of those "I'm going to jump on the bad wagon and down it based on completely biased assumptions when I've only seen the trailer" people? Just wondering?
I'm an Iraq and Afghanistan vet, Army and Air Force vet, one thing I love about the war on terror is the way we have been able to weed these kinds of pussies out of the military.
You know the type: "I just wanted college money", "Whoa, nobody said anything about war" etc.
The current generation of young people are lazy, soft, and lack intestinal fortitude. They have learned that if it gets uncomfortable just quit, bear no responsibility.
When you join the military you sign a contract, the stop/loss is a part of your contract and you fulfill your contract even if you decide it's not for you anymore.
It's not like the civilian world where you can just put in your 2 weeks notice, or just walk away.
In the military you are expected to do your job, carry out your mission, fulfill your contract and sworn oath, in other words, your're expected to keep your promise, and do what you agreed to do of your own free will. Things the anti-war crowd has no concept of.
The fact is our military can be overstretched, too small, or any number of things, but we're always better off without people whose hearts and minds aren't truly in it.
Let the whiners go back home to mommy and daddy where they belong, the real world is obviously not for them.
I didn't see my interview in that movie!
